Sophomore Sean Lehane and freshman David Heron both earned SEC swimming honors for their winning performances against South Carolina last week.
Lehane, one of the Vols' returning All-Americans, was named the SEC Swimmer of the Week after winning his two familiar backstroke races once again to open UT's conference schedule. Heron earned SEC Freshman of the Week honors by sweeping both long distance freestyle events.
Lehane won the 200-yard backstroke in 1 minute, 45.51 seconds, and took first in the 100 backstroke in 48.36. In the early weeks of the season, the 200 backstroke time is the fastest in the country and the 100 is the second fastest by any collegiate swimmer.
He also placed second in the 200 IM (1:53.35).
Heron won both the 500 and 1,000 freestyle races. He won the 1,000 free in 9:17.80 and later held off South Carolina's Gerard Rodriguez to win the 500 free in 4:31.98.
Tennessee is back in action Thursday at Louisville.
