Lamp Named SEC Diver of the Week

Nov. 20, 2012

Redshirt junior Tori Lamp was named SEC Diver of the Week after winning the platform and 1-meter diving events at the Tennessee Invitational.

Competing on the platform for the first time this season, Lamp performed a new dive for the first time to start her list and pulled away from the competition with a spectacular final dive to win with a score of 298.35.

Lamp also headed up a 1-2-3 Tennessee finish on the women's 1-meter springboard over the weekend. She scored a 305.25, followed by senior Jodie McGroarty (284.10) and freshman Samantha Lera (282.90).

She also finished third on the 3-meter springboard with a six-dive score of 321.15.

Lamp's SEC honor is Tennessee's first in diving this season. Last week, junior Lindsay Gendron and Faith Johnson earned conference swimmer and freshman awards.

The diving team returns to action Jan. 3-5 at home for the Tennessee Diving Invitational.
