One of the few Vols in program history to be voted team captain as a sophomore, Tristan Slater is off to a strong start to his second season.
Through the first half of the season, Slater has clocked the Vols top times in four races. Like his freshman season, the England native again figures to be Tennessee's best in both the 200- and 400-yard individual medley. He's also posted the top times in the 200 breaststroke and 200 butterfly.
Slater has proven vital in the Vols' dual meets this year, thanks to his ability to come from behind to win races. He recorded his first career three-race win dual meet in the home opener against Louisville, touching the wall first in the 200 butterfly, the 200 breaststroke and the 400 IM. In the breaststroke and butterfly, he came back from more than a second behind in the final 50 to clinch victory.
