Head swimming and diving coach Matt Kredich has been selected to lead the U.S. women's swimming team at the 2013 World University Games, USA Swimming announced Thursday.
The World University Games will be held July 7-16, 2013, in Kazan, Russia.
"I feel very honored to be asked to serve on this staff," Kredich said. "Team USA is known worldwide as a leader in swimming. We have an outstanding record of success internationally, and so I'm very excited to be in a position to help build on this tradition. The rest of the staff is a group of coaches that I have tremendous respect for, so I'm excited to work with and learn from them."
Kredich will be assisted at the Games by Kevin Blum (Coronado-Navy Swim Association), Carol Capitani (Texas, women's head coach) and Paul Stafford (Terrapins Swim Team).
Kredich will not be the only Tennessee representative at the pool for the World University Games. Senior Kelsey Floyd, an international standout in the butterfly, was added to the team earlier this fall because of her performance at the USA Olympic Swimming Trials and the U.S. Open Swimming Championships.
"The World University Games team is made up of an elite and very accomplished group of college swimmers and most of them have been outstanding leaders on their teams, so it is a very skilled and experienced group of people," Kredich said. "It will be a real privilege to be able to work with them and learn from them as well."
