Dec. 20, 2012
The Tennessee swimming program has released dates and details for the 2013 summer camps.
Three five-day sessions during June are available for intermediate and advanced swimmers ages 8 to 18. The camp will take place in the Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center, site of the 2012 SEC Championships and the 2012 US Olympic Team domestic training camp.
The camps will be directed by the Tennessee swimming staff, led by head coach Matt Kredich. Now in his eighth season at Tennessee, Kredich is widely regarded as a leader in technique training and implementation. His staff includes associate coach Tyler Fenwick and assistant coaches Lance Asti, Ashley Jahn and Bret Lundgaard.
Session 1: June 2-6
Session 2: June 9-13
Session 3: June 16-20
For every session of camp, there are resident ($650), commuter ($475), elite ($785) and weekend ($320) options. A non-refundable deposit of $150 is due at time of registration. Final payment is due two weeks before the start of camp.
RESIDENT CAMP: The resident camp gives the campers two sessions of swimming practice that include dryland training, focused stroke instruction, some conditioning, video recording and review and daily talks from Tennessee experts in aspects of mental training, nutrition and recovery and team building. The resident camp is very technique intensive and prioritizes learning over physical conditioning.
ELITE TRAINING CAMP: The elite training camp provides the same technical instruction as the resident camp. However each day there will be one or two additional training sessions. We will have an age group and a senior elite group. The senior groups will have the option of signing up for the elite sprinting track, the elite distance track, or the elite stroke/IM/mid distance track.
