Tennessee Wins Two to Open Indoor Season

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Tennessee track and field program opened the 2014 indoor season with the UAB Blazer Indoor Invitational on Friday evening. Taking place at the Birmingham CrossPlex, this event played host to more than 40 teams from across the southeast region.

The night was highlighted by two wins and four personal bests in the opening day of action. Terrance Livingston won the men's 500-meter run in 1 minute, 3.26 seconds. Tennessee's A unit emerged the victor in the women's distance medley relay.

Aslynn Halvorson and ReJean Rouse each had career nights in the weight throw. Halvorson's mark of 17.54m secured ninth on the evening, while Rouse finished 15th with 14.94m. In her collegiate debut, Brielyn Rogers earned 27th in the triple jump with mark of 11.26m.

The trio of Felecia Majors, Emily Yarnell, and Felicia Brown held three of the top ten positions in the 300m for Tennessee. Majors finished second in her debut with a time of 38.07, Yarnell placed eighth (39.62), followed closely by Brown 10th (39.694).

Kasha McDougald clocked in 13th in the 60m hurdles Section A preliminary round.

Three Lady Vols placed in the 60m dash: Brown placed 11th (7.39) in Section B, Majors followed in 14th (7.656) in Section B and Yarnell took 21st in Section A with a time of 7.82.

Jeremy Dickie finished second in the 1000m with a time of 2:34.89, followed by Nick Kaiser placing eighth in 2:36.08.

The Vols also had a strong showing in the 300m: Jarael Nelvis eighth (34.40), Jerimy Strainge 13th (34.95), and Jamol James 15th (35.35).

Section A of the 60m dash for UT was highlighted by Jamol James, fourth (6.79) and Jarael Nelvis, eighth (6.88). Reggie Juin scored 13th in Section B with a time of 7.02.

Jack Little debuted in the 5000m invite, placing fifth (15:41.75).

There was a delay in the weight throw competition, so results will be announced with tomorrow's event wrap-up. The meet will conclude Saturday with events beginning at 10 a.m. ET.
