FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The Tyson Invitational concluded Saturday evening with Tennessee earning six more personal bests and eight top 10s to bolster confidence heading into the SEC Indoor Championships.

Tennessee participated in one field event today, the women's college triple jump, where both athletes scored personal bests. Allison Outerbridge earned second with a 41 feet 6.5 inches/12.66 meter mark, while Brielyn Rogers finished eighth with a 39.8/12.09m.

The bests kept coming as the Lady Volunteers garnered personal bests in each individual competition partaken in. The 200m was highlighted by three top-15 placements: Felicia Brown sixth, Felecia Majors 10th, and Emily Yarnell 14th. Brown's mark of 23.54 is in the top 15 nationally which would qualify her for the NCAA Indoor Championships later this season. The times for Majors (23.80) and Yarnell (23.903) are both top 50 times nationally. Tennessee's 4X400 relay placed 20th, while the DMR unit acquired third overall with a season-best time of 11:22.18.

The Tennessee men were led in individual competition today by Peter Okwera's fifth place performance in the 3000m. He had a season best time of 8:25.92 in the event. Freshman Jerimy Strainge tied his career best in the 200m for the third consecutive week with a time of 21.70. The Vols' relay teams posted top 10 performances in both events this afternoon. Season high times of 9:55.34 for seventh in the DMR and 3:09.70 in the 4X400 rounded out the meet for Tennessee.

This weekend consisted of three event victories, 17 athlete personal bests, and 27 top 10 finishes. The immeasurable components of experience and momentum from this weekend's meets are hopefully exactly what the team needs heading into the next competition. Tennessee returns to action in the SEC Indoor Championships on February 27 - March 1 in College Station, Texas.
