Solid Performances at Alabama Relays

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Tennessee had a solid performance in all areas in the second day of competition at the Alabama Relays, consisting of nine events for the Big Orange on Friday.

The Lady Vols participated in three field events on Friday. Aslynn Halvorson was the runner up in the shot put with a mark of 14.38 meters/47 feet 2.25 inches. Katherine Dresch bested in the javelin, 43.32m/142-5 to earn sixth. Brielyn Rogers debuted in outdoor triple jump scoring 11.87m, and Allison Outerbridge obtained a mark of 12.29. Outerbridge was fifth and Rogers ninth.

On the track, Rogers premiered in the 100m with a 13.45 time. Julia Petree represented Tennessee in the 400m garnering fifth in 56.73 seconds. Amirah Johnson bright-spotted UT women in the 1500m a ninth place finish in 4:33.51. She was joined in the top 15 by Emily Williams (11th) and Kelsey Kane (14th).

Tennessee's throwing duo of Matthew Hoty and Tavis Bailey secured another three-four finish in the shot put. Hoty's third place mark was 18.06m/59-3, while Bailey tied his best of 18.03/59-2 for fourth.

Reggie Juin scored a top ten in the 100m for UT. His time of 11.01 was tenth in competition. A quintet of Vols set new personal bests in the 1500m. Austin Whitelaw (6th), Jeremy Dickie (18th), Nick Kaiser (29th) and Jack Little (30th) all improved upon their previous high marks.

Today's performances brings Tennessee's totals for this meet to 1 win, 10 personal bests and 14 top ten finishes. The Alabama Relays conclude tomorrow night at the Sam Bailey Complex in Tuscaloosa.
