Tennessee Earns Second Medal of NCAA Championship

EUGENE, Ore. -- Tavis Bailey represented the men in the discus finals, while Alexis Panisse ran the championship heat of the 800m as Tennessee earned another medal on Friday evening.

In his second NCAA Outdoor competition, Tavis Bailey brought home the bronze medal in men's discus.

The junior threw the second longest distance of his career hurling the disc 203 feet, 10 inches (62.14m). This makes UT's second medal of the 2014 NCAA Outdoor Championships, adding to Jake Blankenship's bronze in the pole vault on Wednesday night.

Also on Wednesday, Alexis Panisse edged out the competition by three hundredths of a second to secure the final position in tonight's 800m final heat. She scored an eighth place finish with a time of 2 minutes 6.62 seconds.

The 2014 Championships conclude Saturday at Hayward Field. Tennessee sophomore Cassie Wertman will close out the outdoor season with women's shot put scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. Eastern.
