KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- With the institution's final degree certification process for the fall semester of 2012 now complete, the University of Tennessee announced that 29 student-athletes have fulfilled graduation requirements, including four who have completed graduate degrees.
The overall student-athlete GPA for the Fall 2012 semester was 2.97, an increase from the 2.94 posted in the Spring 2012 semester. The cumulative UT student-athlete GPA stands at 3.02. A total of 22 student-athletes earned a perfect 4.0 GPA, while 72 percent earned a GPA of 2.5 or higher, 51 percent earned a GPA of 3.0 or higher and 26 percent were at or above the 3.5 threshold.
Additionally, two former student-athletes returned to UT and completed their degree requirements through the Renewing Academic Commitment (RAC) program, including Boris Conkic from men's tennis and former Vol football player and 10-year NFL player David Martin.
Of the 16 Tennessee athletic teams, 11 posted a GPA of 3.0 or higher during the Fall 2012 semester and also hold a cumulative GPA above 3.0.
