Key Returners: Five upperclassmen return for the Volunteers, led by senior Austin Whitelaw. Whitelaw earned All-Region honors last season behind a PR of 30:39.39 at the NCAA South Regional Championships. Whitelaw is joined by fellow seniors Jeremy Dickie and J.R. Creekmore.

About this event: The Powerade Invitational marks the first time since 2006 that the UT men have competed in Chattanooga. The Vols finished second of seven that year in the UTC Invitational. Friday's race is a 5K that will begin at 6:15 p.m. ET.

Newcomers to watch: Andre Hillsman and Drew Kelley are the lone freshmen on the 2014 squad. Hillsman is a native of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and is coming off a senior season at Central Magnet in which he was named Boys Cross Country Runner of the Year by the Tennessean. Kelley is a former two-sport athlete at Roswell HS in Roswell, Georgia.

Returning for the Lady Vols: UT returns juniors Chelsea Blaase and Alexis Panisse for the 2014 season. Blaase was an All-SEC and All-Region performer last year and finished 10th at the NCAA South Regional Championships. Meanwhile, Panisse turned in three top 10 finishes in six races last year.

About this event: The Lady Vols return to Chattanooga for the first time since October of 2010. The women's 2-mile race begins at 5:45 p.m. ET on Friday night.

Newcomers to watch: Anna Jernigan of Nashville is the only freshman on this season's roster.
