TENNESSEE HIGHLIGHTS
Previewing the Men's Competition
Tennessee: 31-34 (9-3 SEC)

In our last event: The Tennessee men competed at the Wisconsin Adidas Invitational, one of the most prestigious cross country meets in the nation October 19. Every team with the exception of UMass Amherst in the field of 35 teams was ranked regionally, 20 of whom ranked nationally. Daniel Tobin was UT's top performer placing 127th with a time of 24:31 in route to a 32nd overall finish. Junior Peter Okwera, winner of two races already this year, was a second behind in 129th.Tennessee's other three scorers included: senior Stephen Derlath (188th, 24:55); sophomore Kyle Walter (201st, 25:04); and junior J.R. Creekmore (223rd; 25:31). This event gave the Vols exposure to programs highly touted in the national spotlight as they head into the post season.

About this event: Florida's Mark Bostic Golf Course plays host to the 2013 SEC Cross Country Championships. The men's race will be an 8k on the rolling hills grass course. This is the fifth time Florida hosts the championships, with the last coming in 2002. Arkansas is the defending champion, having won 20 of the last 22 conference titles. Runners take to the course at 9 a.m.

Previewing the Women's Competition
Tennessee: 48-9-1 (7-6-1 SEC)

In our last event: The Tennessee women competed in the Crimson Classic October 18, where sophomore Chelsea Blaase attained her first collegiate win with a career best time of 17:21.19 in the 5K. Blaase was the second Lady Volunteer in the past three years to win this event. Fellow sophomore Alexis Panisse was another bright spot scoring her third consecutive top-ten finish of the season placing seventh. Tennessee's three additional scorers included: freshman Emily Williams (25th, 17:56.97), Amirah Johnson (31st, 17:04.84) and Kelsey Kane (37th, 18:09.40). With all five Tennessee scorers placing in the top 40 among the field of 210 to attain 97 points for third overall. This event gave the Lady Vols familiarity with other teams in the SEC heading into championship weekend and course experience as the group looks to return to Harry Pritchett Course for NCAA South Regionals November 15.

About this event: The women will run a 6k race on the rolling hills grass course at Florida's Mark Bostick Golf Course to determine the 2013 SEC Cross Country Champion. The race will begin at 10 a.m., with awards presentation to follow at 11:15 a.m. Host school, Florida is the defending champion after winning three of the last four titles.
