Special Guest Instructor
  • Jim Lefebvre
    • Joining the Tennessee Baseball Christmas Camp Staff this year will be Jim Lefebvre. Lefebvre is a former manager of the Seattle Mariners and Chicago Cubs. He has also been the hitting instructor for the Oakland A's and the Milwaukee Brewers. Lefebvre has been the personal hitting coach for major league greats as Mark McGuire, Sammy Sosa, Ken Griffey Jr., Jose Canseco and many others.
    Camp Dates
  • December 27-28, 2001 -- Ages 7-12
  • December 29-30, 2001 -- Ages 13-2002 Seniors

    Since 1991, the Vols have signed over 23 players who have attended a Tennessee Baseball Camp.
    REGISTRATION

    All campers should pre-register using the application found above. Registration or check in will be Thursday, Dec. 27 beginning at 8:00am and Saturday, Dec. 29 at 8:00am on the upper level of Stokely Athletic Center.

    Tuition is $140 for each of the camps. For groups of 5 or more, camp price is $125 per camper and for groups of 10 or more, camp price is $110 per camper. Groups MUST send all applications at one time and go through registration as a group. There will be no additions or deletions to groups after the applications are received. Siblings camp price is $125 per camper.

    A $50 deposit must accompany your application. Please note: There will be a $50 administration fee for any cancellations.

    LUNCH
    Lunch will be provided for campers only. Parents can purchase lunch each day for $3.00.
    CAMP STORE
    T-shirts, hats, shorts and other items will be available for purchase. Also, Coach Delmonico's videos on hitting drills and baserunning as well as the Infield Play video by Coach Simcox and Pitching video by Coach Mazey.

    • LODGING
    The Hyatt Regency is proud to be able to be the official lodging headquarters for the 2001 Christmas Camp. They have put together a special package for all campers who wish to stay overnight. The cost per room is $58 per night. Make reservations by calling 865-637-1234 or 1-800-233-1234 and tell them you are attending the Tennessee Baseball Christmas Camp.
    Directions
    Coming East/ West on I-40: Take the James White Parkway exit (388A) of I-40. Get in to the left lane and proceed to the Hill Avenue exit. Turn right at the light onto Hill Avenue. The Hyatt entrance is just past Suntrust Bank.
    GUEST SPEAKERS
    There will be special lectures for players and parents during each camp. During the camp for ages 13-2002 seniors, Coaches Delmonico, Simcox and Mazey will speak to the parents about "Recruiting the High School Baseball Player."
    PARENT-SON CAMP
    Our staff encourages parents to attend the camp with their son. Parents can attend and listen and observe at no additional charge. Prents should feel free to take notes or video during camp instruction.

    CAMP STAFF
    The camp is conducted by Vols Head Coach Rod Delmonico and Vols Assistant Coach and Camp Director, Larry Simcox. Also, Vols pitching coach Randy Mazey will do instruction. Many top college and high school coaches from the Southeast will be part of the camp staff.
    CAMP RATIO
    Player to coach ratio will be 10 to 1 for each camp.
    POSITION PLAY
    Each camper will be given the opportunity to work at any position they wish.
    Infield -- Outfield -- Pitching -- Catching
    HITTING
    All campers will go through two afternoons and one optional evening of intensified hitting instruction and drills.

    CAMP INSTRUCTION
    Each camper will receive the same instruction that has enabled Coach Delmonico and his staff to lead the Vols to one of the winningest baseball programs in the nation. Under Delmonico, the Vols have made 6 regional appearances, won Southeastern Conference Championships in 1994 and 1995, 4 Eastern Division Championships and a 3rd place finish in the 1995 and 2001 College World Series.
