Made four starts among his 16 appearances ... Went 3-0 as a starter with a 3.51 ERA in 25.2 innings, working at least 7.0 innings three times ... Posted two wins in three Southeastern Conference starts over Florida 3/11 and South Carolina 3/18 ... Was 2-0 with three saves in seven relief appearances in SEC action ... Named the SEC Pitcher of the Week Mar. 12 after tossing 11.0 shutout innings in two outings against the Gators, earning a save and a win ... Got a win over Wichita State 3/4, posting a career-high eight strikeouts in 7.2 innings ... Is tied for fifth on UT's career saves list with six ... HIGH SCHOOL: Attended Science Hill High School in Johnson City, Tenn., where he was a two-time all-state, three-time all-region and all-conference selection ... Named to the 1999 Tennessee Sports Writers Association's All-Northeast Tennessee Class AAA team and the Big Seven All-Conference squad ... Went 7-3 with three saves and 1.02 ERA in 75.2 innings as a senior with 137 strikeouts and 11 walks ... Also hit .500 with 6 home runs, 12 doubles and 35 RBI as a catcher ... Was the 1998 Class AAA State Tournament MVP as team won the title with a 33-8 mark ... As a junior, he was named the TBCA Player of the Year, Elite Team Player of the Year, District Player of the Year and honorable mention All-America ...
