Joined the Vols after a solid career as a first and third baseman at Spartanburg Methodist College in Spartanburg, S.C. ... Helped lead SMC to the 2003 NJCAA College World Series where it went 1-2 ... SMC won 101 games in his two seasons, making him a member of the winningest class in school history ... The 2003 All-Conference selection hit .371 (82-for-221) with 10 home runs and 50 RBI ... Also laced 13 doubles with one triple while scoring 45 runs in 65 games.
