Game 4 - Postgame Quotes
Head Coach Rod Delmonico
"I'm glad to be here with my three sophomores (freshmen Julio Borbon, James Adkins and J.P. Arencibia). At least I feel like they're sophomores because they've played so much. All three had a lot to do with us winning tonight. I've got to give them (Winthrop) credit. Their guy's 11-5. He competes. You saw his athleticism covering first. "I've just got to thank all the fans for showing up the last two days. It's just a tremendous atmosphere. We're going to start (Craig) Cobb tomorrow. We'll go as long as we can with him and see what happens. "I don't think we've had three freshmen come in and make as big an impact as a catcher, pitcher and centerfielder."
44 - J.P. Arencibia
"He (James Adkins) was downright disgusting tonight. His slider was filth. His curveball was breaking six to 12, and his fastball was working, too. He was on with three pitches and even got out with his changeup. I've gotten real comfortable with James. He doesn't get rattled. Tonight was a big win. It got scary with the two-run homerun. We were good defensively and had timely execution. Julio came back after yesterday to go 4-for-4. Omaha is always the goal, but we have to take it one game at a time and be ready for tomorrow."
5 - Julio Borbon
"First of all, the left field stands are awesome. Some days you've just got bad days, and some days you've got good ones."
31 - James Adkins
"I didn't change anything (with regard to pitching in the postseason). I came out with the same intensity as I did last weekend. I knew I had the bats and gloves behind me. I've been working on my pitches, and tonight it all came together. My curveball and slider were key tonight. (About getting into trouble in the eighth inning) I just told myself, 'I can get out of this.' And I dug deep and got out of it. You have to step it up in the postseason. We want to get to Omaha."
Head coach Joe Hudak
"It was another great ballgame, another game similar to what we expected. You've got to give all the credit in the world to (James) Adkins; he threw a great ball game. We knew going in he was a good pitcher. The thing he did well tonight was his command was exceptional. He threw his off-speed pitches for strikes and kept us off balance all night. I thought Heath (Rollins) pitched a great game for us tonight. Tennessee is a great offensive club and holding them to three runs definitely gave us a chance to win. "I'm proud of our guys, I thought we fought very hard and played very well. We got beat tonight by a very, very good pitcher who pitched a good game. We've played very well for two games and could have won tonight and we just didn't. I'm proud of the way our guys played and we'll be ready to play tomorrow."
10 - Heath Rollins
"I gave up a couple of runs early, which is tough when you face a pitcher like (Tennessee) has on the mound. After the fourth inning when I gave up the run I knew with the way (James Adkins) was pitching it was going to be tough for us to have a chance at the end of the game. I started locating my fastball and off-speed pitches a lot better and started getting more people out.
