Knoxville, Tenn. - The University of Tennessee baseball team officially opened the 2011 campaign with its first full team practice of the season on a beautiful, crisp Friday afternoon at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.

The Volunteers return 17 players, including seven starters, from last year's squad which finished with a record of 30-26. Joining them is a talented group of 14 newcomers, headlined by freshman Andrew Toles, a fourth-round pick by the Florida Marlins in the 2010 MLB First-Year Player Draft, and last year's Tennessee Gatorade Player of the Year, Ethan Bennett from Farragut High School.

Tennessee will kick off the season with a three-game series against Milwaukee, Feb. 18-20, in Knoxville. In all, the Vols will host a total of 37 home games at Lindsey Nelson Stadium, including visits from Ole Miss (March 25-27), defending NCAA National Champion South Carolina (April 7-9), Georgia (April 22-24), Mississippi State (May 6-8) and Auburn (May 17-21).

Prior to the start of the season, UT will host a fan appreciation day from 9 a.m. until noon on Saturday, Feb. 12. Fans are invited to come tour the recently renovated Lindsey Nelson Stadium, meet the team and take a few swings in the new indoor batting cage facility.
