Revised Opening Weekend Schedule

Feb. 14, 2014

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Due to travel difficulties caused by winter weather in the Midwest, Tennessee and Purdue will now move Saturday’s game to 4 p.m. ET on Monday, Feb. 17. The Vols and Boilermakers will play the doubleheader on Sunday as planned.

“As excited as we are to start the season, it’s unfortunate for our fans, our administration and everybody involved that we continue to make changes that are out of our control,” said Tennessee baseball head coach Dave Serrano. “Due to Purdue having rough weather in West Lafayette, Ind., and the fact that our field still has a lot of dampness to it, we felt it was in the best interest of all parties to start the series on Sunday with a doubleheader.

“I do want to emphasize my appreciation to our grounds crew and to the members of our team that worked extremely hard to even give us the opportunity to play this weekend. Their hard work has not gone unnoticed; it just emphasizes the championship effort we continue to get here at the University of Tennessee.”

The opening matchup of the three-game series will start at noon on Sunday, with the nightcap to follow at 4 p.m. ET. Single-game tickets purchased for Saturday’s contest will be honored on Monday.
