The Tennessee athletic department, in conjunction with the Vol Network, has announced the broadcast schedule for UT's 2009 baseball season. As many as 43 of Tennessee's 56 regular-season games are scheduled for broadcast locally on WNML The Sports Animal (AM 990, FM 99.1 & 99.3), with veteran play-by-play man Jon Wilkerson calling the action.
All games available on WNML will also be streamed online at UTsports.com for free. This service, compliments of the Vol Network, allows Volunteer baseball fans outside the local broadcast area an opportunity to follow the action all season long at no cost. Wilkerson is entering his 11th season as the radio play-by-play voice of Tennessee baseball and will be joined for most broadcasts on WNML by veteran color analyst Kyle Hixson.
WNML The Sports Animal begins its 2009 Vol baseball coverage with the first game of the schedule doubleheader on March 7 against Ohio University. First pitch for that game is at noon Eastern time.
Barring any scheduling conflicts with Tennessee men's or women's basketball teams active in postseason play, WNML also will broadcast UT's home baseball games against Auburn on March 13-15.
WNML's nearly continuous baseball coverage begins with the March 18 matchup with Tennessee Tech.
