Pros Update (6/12): Duffy Keeps Homering

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- The Vols have twenty former players playing professional baseball at every level. One former Vol, Matt Duffy, had a particularly impressive week for the Triple-A Oklahoma City RedHawks.

R.A. Dickey - SP, Toronto Blue Jays

    Season: 6-4, 4.20 ERA, 14 G, 83.2 IP, 80 H, 45 R, 39 ER, 39 BB, 68 K
    The Opening Day starter for the Toronto Blue Jays, R.A. Dickey, is 6-4 with a 4.20 ERA through his first 14 starts this season. He ranks second on the team with 83.2 innings pitched. Dickey received a no-decision during his start on June 9. He tossed 5.1 innings allowing two runs, two solo home runs, on five hits and striking out three.

    Yan Gomes - C, Cleveland Indians

    Season: .261, 56 G, 27 R, 52 H, 8 2B, 7 HR, 22 RBIs
    In his second season with the Cleveland Indians, Yan Gomes is hitting .261 with seven home runs and 22 RBIs through 56 games. Gomes had a 3-game hitting streak (June 6-8) in which went 5-for-11 (.455) with a homer, two runs scored and three RBIs. During that stretch, he posted an impressive 3-for-4 effort on June 6 against the Texas Rangers.

    Chase Headley - 3B, San Diego Padres

    Season: .199, 48 G, 17 R, 33 H, 6 2B, 5 HR, 20 RBIs
    In his sixth full season at the Major League level, all with the San Diego Padres, Chase Headley is hitting .199 with five home runs and 20 RBIs in 48 games with the San Diego Padres. On June 7 against the Washington Nationals, Headley recorded a 2-for-5 performance that included a double, two runs scored and one RBI.

    Luke Hochevar - SP, Kansas City Royals

    Luke Hochevar underwent Tommy John surgery on March 18, 2014. He will miss the entire 2014 season and is expected to return for the 2015 season.

    (Majors) Season: .133, 20 G, 5 R, 8 H, 3 2B, 1 HR, 6 RBIs
    (Minors) Season: .270, 20 G, 13 R, 20 H, 1 2B, 4 HR, 12 RBIs
    In his first season with the Texas Rangers, J.P. Arencibia was the Rangers' starting catcher on Opening Day. He appeared in 20 games, hitting .133 with one home run and six RBIs. Arencibia was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock on May 20. Since being optioned to Triple-A, Arencibia is hitting .270 with four home runs and 12 RBIs in 20 games with the Express. This past week, June 8, Arencibia posted a 2-for-4 performance that included a home run, one run scored and two RBIs. He is hitting an impressive .313 with runners in scoring position.

    Julio Borbon - OF, Norfolk Tides (AAA - Baltimore Orioles)

    Season: .268, 59 G, 38 R, 55 H, 4 2B, 4 HR, 26 RBIs
    After spending three seasons in the Major Leagues, Julio Borbon was selected, from the Chicago Cubs, by the Baltimore Orioles in the minor-league portion of the Rule 5 draft prior to the 2014 season. He has played 59 games with the Norfolk Tides, Orioles' Triple-A club. During those 59 games, Borbon is hitting .268 with four home runs, 14 stolen bases and 26 RBIs. He had impressive streak of three straight three hit games (June 3-5) in which he went 9-for-17 (.529) with a double, a home run, seven runs scored and four RBIs.

    Kentrail Davis - OF, Huntsville Stars (AA - Milwaukee Brewers)

    Season: .258, 51 G, 23 R, 46 H, 10 2B, 2 HR, 19 RBIs
    In his third stint with the Huntsville Stars, Kentrail Davis is hitting .258 with two home runs, 10 doubles and 19 RBIs through 51 games this season. Davis has had back-to-back multi-hit games and is 4-for-9 in this week's series against the Chattanooga Lookouts. During the month of June, Davis is hitting .324 with a double and two RBIs through the first 11 games.

    Matt Duffy - 3B, Oklahoma City RedHawks (AAA - Houston Astros)

    Season (AAA): .225, 13 G, 7 R, 9 H, 1 2B, 5 HR, 10 RBIs
    Season (AA): .302, 49 G, 23 R, 61 H, 11 2b, 1 3B, 6 HR, 35 RBI
    Matt Duffy was promoted to Triple-A Oklahoma City on May 28. Duffy had an unbelievable week (June 5-12) in which he went 8-for-20 (.400) with one double, five home runs, one walk, five runs scored and nine RBIs. His week included a three home run game against the Salt Lake City Bees on June 9 and a walk-off double against the Bees on June 11. His three homer game was only the sixth time it had happened in Oklahoma City RedHawks history.

    Blake Forsythe - C, Midland RockHounds (AA - Oakland Athletics)

    Season: .196, 29 G, 13 R, 19 H, 4 2B, 3 HR, 9 RBIs
    Prior to the 2014 season, Blake Forsythe was traded from the New York Mets to the Oakland Athletics. He was optioned to the Athletics' Double-A squad, the Midland RockHounds. During his second stint in Double-A, Forsythe is hitting .196 with three home runs and nine RBIs through 29 games with the RockHounds.

    Zack Godley - RP, Daytona Cubs (A-Advanced - Chicago Cubs)

    Season: 2-1, 5.74 ERA, 10 G, 15.2 IP, 21 H, 15 R, 10 ER, 8 BB, 18 K
    Zack Godley was promoted to the A-Advanced Daytona Cubs on May 9. He has appeared in 10 games and is 2-1 with a 5.74 ERA through 15.2 innings. Godley had an impressive week (June 5-12) going 1-0 while allowing no earned runs and striking out six through 5.2 innings in two appearances.

    Steven Gruver - RP, Fort Myers Miracle (A-Advanced - Minnesota Twins)

    Season: 1-4, 3.29 ERA, 22 G, 38.1 IP, 38 H, 17 R, 14 ER, 18 BB, 28 K
    Steven Gruver is in his second season with the A-Advanced Fort Myers Miracle. He was promoted from the Single-A Cedar Rapids Kernels during the 2013 season. Gruver is currently 1-4 with a modest 3.29 ERA through 38.1 innings of work. He leads the team with 22 appearances. He has performed very well on the road, posting an incredible 0.75 ERA while holding opposing hitters to a .205 batting average through 12.0 innings of work. During his last two outings, Gruver has allowed only one hit while striking out three through 2.2 innings.

    Ty'Relle Harris - SP, Bridgeport Bluefish (Independent - Atlantic League)

    Season: 0-6, 6.94 ERA, 8 G, 36.1 IP, 38 H, 34 R, 28 ER, 27 BB, 27 K
    In his second season with the Bridgeport Bluefish, Ty'Relle Harris is off to a rough start. Harris is 0-6 with a 6.94 ERA through 36.1 innings of work. During his last start, June 7, he tossed 5.1 innings allowing two earned runs and striking out five.

    Deunte Heath - RP, Charlotte Knights (AAA - Chicago White Sox)

    Season: 2-1, 2.75 ERA, 17 G, 39.1 IP, 31 H, 16 R, 12 ER, 21 BB, 41 K
    Deunte Heath is currently pitching at the Triple-A level with the Charlotte Knights in the Chicago White Sox organization. In 17 appearances, including three starts, the 6-4 right hander is 2-1 with a 2.75 ERA. Heath picked up his second win of the season during his last outing (June 9). He made his third start and fired 5.0 innings allowing only one run on one hit, a solo home run, and striking out seven.

    Nick Hernandez - SP, Winnipeg Goldeyes (Independent - American Association)

    Season: 2-0, 4.67 ERA, 5 G, 27.0 IP, 36 H, 14 R, 14 ER, 4 BB, 21 K
    In his first season with the Winnipeg Goldeyes, Nick Hernandez holds a 2-0 record with a 4.67 ERA through 27.0 innings of work. During his last outing, June 11, Hernandez picked up his second win by tossing 6.2 innings allowing one earned runs and striking out four. Hernandez is 2-0 during his last two starts and has fired 14.1 innings while only allowing two earned runs and recording 10 strikeouts.

    Bryan Morgado - RP, Camden Riversharks (Independent - Atlantic League)

    Season: 0-1, 1.84 ERA, 19 G, 14.2 IP, 14 H, 5 R, 3 ER, 11 BB, 10 K
    In his first season with the Camden Riversharks, Bryan Morgado is currently sporting a 0-1 record with an impressive 1.84 ERA through 14.2 innings. He currently leads the team with 19 appearances.

    Khayyan Norfork - 3B, Potomac Nationals (A-Advanced - Washington Nationals)

    Season: .250, 47 G, 27 R, 43 H, 8 2B, 2 HR, 21 RBIs
    Khayyan Norfork was promoted to the A-Advanced Potomac Nationals early during the 2014 season. He is currently hitting .250 with two home runs and 21 RBIs through 47 games with the Nationals.

    Zach Osborne - SS, Asheville Tourists (A - Colorado Rockies)

    Season: .284, 28 G, 15 R, 25 H, 6 2B, 1 HR, 13 RBIs
    In his second stint with the Single-A Asheville Tourists, Zach Osborne is currently hitting .284 with one homer and 13 RBIs through 24 games. Osborne is riding a 4-game hitting streak (June 4-11) in which he is 5-for-13 (.385) with two runs scored, one walk, one stolen base and one RBI.

    Matt Ramsey - RP, Montgomery Biscuits (AA - Tampa Bay Rays)

    Season: 1-0, 0.93 ERA, 14 G, 19.1 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 14 BB, 28 K
    Prior to the 2014 season, Matt Ramsey was promoted to the Double-A Montgomery Biscuits. Ramsey has been on a tear since becoming a Biscuit. He has appeared in 14 games and tossed 19.1 innings while only allowing five hits and two runs. Both of the runs came during the same appearance on May 19, meaning that he has not allowed a run in 13 of his 14 appearances. Ramsey has not allowed a run in his last seven appearances (10.2 innings).

    Andy Simunic - OF, Gwinnett Braves (AAA - Atlanta Braves)

    Season: .265, 33 G, 12 R, 26 H, 5 2B, 1 HR, 10 RBIs
    Andy Simunic signed a minor league deal with the Atlanta Braves on June 6 after being released by the Houston Astros. Simunic had spent his entire career in the Houston organization. He has appeared in three games since joining the Gwinnett Braves. As a Brave, Simunic is currently 1-for-3 with one run scored. On the season, he is hitting .265 with five doubles and 10 RBIs.

    Aaron Tullo - SP, Camden Riversharks (Independent - Atlantic League)

    Season: 0-3, 16.20 ERA, 4 G, 10.0 IP, 19 H, 18 R, 18 ER, 15 BB, 7 K
    During his second stint with the Camden Riversharks, Aaron Tullo is currently off to a rough start with a 0-3 and a 16.20 ERA through 10.0 innings pitched. He will be looking to match his numbers from his first sting with the Riversharks. During the 2013 season, Tullo went 3-1 with a 3.99 ERA through 17 games.
