KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Tennessee legends Todd Helton, Peyton Manning and Inky Johnson will be honored with Special Awards at the 2014 Greater Knoxville Sports Hall of Fame Dinner and Induction Ceremony on July 24 at the Knoxville Convention Center.
Helton will be honored with the "Thanks for the Memories" Award and serve as the featured speaker at the event. He will be introduced by the voice of the Diamond Vols, John Wilkerson.
Manning will be presented as the "Chad Pennington Professional Athlete of the Year" for his MVP play with the Denver Broncos.
Johnson will receive the "Pat Summitt Ignite Greatness Award" as he continues to spread his message throughout the nation.
The induction class of 2014 includes: David Douglas-Football
Peter Oppegard-Figure Skating
Bruhin and Douglas both played football for the Vols.
Hammaker's second daughter Jenna, is married to former Vols baseball player and current Cleveland Indian Yan Gomes.
Joel Helton is Todd Helton's uncle and coached football at Central High School from 1984-2010.
Wade Houston coached Tennessee's basketball team from 1989-94, including his son Allan Houston, who starred for the Vols and in the NBA.
Nikki McCray was a legendary member of the Lady Vols basketball program and member of the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame.
Pitkanen played tennis for the Vols before a pro playing and eventual coaching career.
