Recap |  Box Score

Bruce Pearl, Tennessee Head Coach

On the game
"First of all I would like to thank the Ohio State University for giving us a chance to come here and play today. I remember coaching at Iowa and how tough it was to coach in St. John Arena and things have not changed."

On the game
"Ohio State is one of the premier basketball programs in the country. Even though I am disappointed with the loss I am happy with what my team did."

On Greg Oden
"You can't stop him. You just want to do things to limit him. We wanted to run the floor and then in the half court we wanted to lean on him and try and wear him out."

Duke Crews, Tennessee freshman forward

On Greg Oden
"He is a great player. He does a great job getting in position and once he gets the ball inside you can't stop him. Once he gets his other hand back I don't know of a player in college basketball that could stop him."

Dane Bradshaw, Tennessee senior forward

On the game
"It was battle and down the stretch it looked like we were going to be the team that was going to win but they hit a big shot and won."

Thad Matta, Ohio State head coach

On the game
"I thought our guys kept their composure. We got that 10 point lead but then hit a cold spot. Were shooting 67 percent there early in the second half but then couldn't throw one in. We were fortunate get one down the stretch. We knew Tennessee ... that was evident today. We beat a great basketball team and I really hope this gets us back on track and headed in the right direction. What we needed today was a Top 20 home win and we were able to do that. Now it's Big Ten from here on in and here we go."

On who would take the game-winning shot
"Whoever has the open shot. I have great confidence in all these guys. Ron (Lewis) had the look. He made the read."

On the game
"I hope it gives us a jolt. College basketball is a long season. After the Wisconsin game I told them tough times don't last, tough people do. I'm quoting on that. We need to band together. It's early but it's late. I hope these guys look and say we're going to learn some lessons from this game. 20 turnovers is not acceptable in our program. We have to do better job taking care of the basketball."

On Greg Oden
"Greg had two really good practices this week - Thursday and Friday. I felt Tennessee was smaller inside. He was spectacular and dominant today. Outside of his 24 points and 15 rebounds he did more than anyone would know. Greg is also a very good passer we just need to get his inside-outside game going."

On Tennessee's full court pressure
"We haven't seen a whole lot of it. It was effective to throw it over the top to Greg. It gave the other guys options and created easier entries."

Ron Lewis, Ohio State senior guard

On his game-winning shot
"Really I just thought about winning. I didn't know how many we were down. We were down one. I knew we needed a bucket to win."

Mike Conley Jr., Ohio State freshman guard

On what they took from the game
"Just to play games working the game inside. Start playing inside out, not outside in. We are a better team when we do that. We are starting to realize that and to work the ball more."

On playing against Tennessee All-American candidate Chris Lofton
"I have gone against him a couple times in AAU but it was fun going against him. He's a great player and they have a great freshman class just like we do so it was a great game."

On his 3-point shooting
"I think eventually, if I keep hitting threes, teams will have to account for that. If we have a lot of guys hitting we'll be tough to beat."

Greg Oden, freshman center

On the game
"It felt good to be on a roll and get a couple points. I looked up and had 10 points and it felt good. It put confidence in me."

On Tennessee's last possession
"I knew I just needed to get back and tip the ball away from the basket. I was worried at that point but just played tough defense and get the rebounds."
