TENNESSEE HEAD COACH Cuonzo Martin
"I thought it was a well-played game by both teams. Both teams competed and played hard. I thought both teams executed. They did a pretty good job in the second half, really executing their offense. I thought (Nerlens) Noel did a tremendous job in the second half, really setting the tone defensively, altering shots. Also credit our guys for continuing to attack the rim. Other than that, good ball game."
( (On Kentucky making plays down the stretch)
"They did a good job making plays. I though our guys did a good job of putting ourselves in position, but we just didn't capitalize. I thought we were aggressive and continued to attack the rim."
(On the stretch when Julius Mays was called for a flagrant foul and UT missed free throws and shots)
"Josh (Richardson) missed two free throws. Then we had a play and got to the rim, drove and might have gotten it blocked. He executed the play, that's part of it."
(On the first half and getting the game started on a good note)
"I thought we did a good job. The guys took care of the ball, moved the ball and had space. The key was trying to get those big guys off the blocks and force those guys play on the perimeter. So now when our guards attack the rim, you have space and you can make layups and make plays."
(On Jordan McCrae)
"Offensively, I like what I got from him. I didn't think he did a very good job defending throughout. He did a good job of attacking. I think that's the next phase for him. We talk about it a lot. He understands that, he takes pride in defending. That's the next step for him, taking pride on the defensive side of the ball."
TENNESSEE JUNIOR GUARD JORDAN MCCRAE
(On what he saw out there on the floor)
"I think we fought hard the whole game. But kind of like the last three games, it's just been key plays down the stretch that we've had to make to win - I don't think we have."
(On why the those late plays haven't happened)
"There's not a particular reason, but a lot of times their scoring off our breakdowns on defense - not knowing when we're going to switch and who t switch with. Simple things like that."
(On the team's strong start on Tuesday)
"We definitely went into the game knowing we could win. It's just like I said, down the stretch our team has to make key stops and make better decisions." "Going into the half and into the locker room, we were feeling really good. We felt like we could win. We felt like they played their best ball and I felt like we still didn't play our, even though we were up. We just have to play the same way the whole game."
(On if it's a burden to carry the team and be the leading scorer in this game)
"No, I never feel like that. It's like I said, I'm just taking more shots. This isn't a me-carrying-the-team type of thing."
(On the team's rough start to SEC play)
"This is the sort of hole we can get ourselves out of. But these next couple of games are must-win, so we've got to do whatever we've got to do, watch film tomorrow and try to get it straightened out."
