TENNESSEE HEAD COACH Cuonzo Martin(Opening Statement)
"It was a good road win for our guys. It was a battle. It's been an emotional rollercoaster trying to get wins on the road and losing tough games. To finally get a road win, it feels good. We will go back home then it's back to work. But it was a good effort by our guys and they continue to compete. Quinton Chievous hadn't played a lot. D'Montre Edwards, too. They came in and gave us big minutes. So I thought that was good. Trae Golden came in and hadn't played in a week or so. He was 8-for-10 from the line and I thought he did a good job of being aggressive. That's the old Trae Golden. He is aggressive. I thought Jarnell (Stokes), once again, played extremely well. Not only rebounding, but chasing rebounds and keeping balls alive."
(On South Carolina's defense)
"Well when you work on it for so long and the match-ups work, I think you get better at going against it. Even the zone we played, we have been working on it since the summer and we are finally starting to use it. And it just worked for us. Guys are shooting the ball with confidence. It's so hard when you are losing games, tough close games, for your confidence level to remain up. But I thought Jordan (McRae) and Skylar (McBee) were really shooting the ball well. I think Trae (Golden) was confident. Josh (Richardson) played well and defended well. I thought it was good."
(On having Trae Golden back)
"Oh it was good. I don't think we get out of here with a win without Trae Golden. The guy is a ball handler and a threat to score. He is a decision maker and a good free throw shooter. So we need him out there. I thought he accepted the challenge and helped the team play well."
TENNESSEE FORWARD Jarnell Stokes(Opening Statement)
"First I just want to thank God for allowing us to get this win. It's not easy to win on the road, especially coming off a two-game losing streak. We just hung in there."
(On rebounding effectively)
"I anticipate doing that every game. I definitely think I could have played much better. I could have gotten more rebounds - especially in the first half."
(On a key offensive rebound late in the game)
"I definitely think one of the things I didn't do earlier in the year was get my motor up. Offensively, if I was scoring or if I wasn't scoring, I still wasn't rebounding at the level I should. I'm glad it's all finally clicked."
(On what he needs to do to continue to play at this level)
"I'm just trying to keep my motor going. I[m trying to get every rebound on every play. It's one of those things where I just don't want to take any plays off. That's something I think I've done in the past."
