"We shot the ball well overall, and were helped especially by the big lift Scooter McFadgon gave us early in the game. Arkansas ran a good box-and-one on McFadgon, causing him to go a long time without scoring in the second half.
"Another good factor for us was that Brandon Crump had a double-double. It's a real mystery how we have played on the road this year. Maybe we can go down to Alabama and get some momentum on our side.
"We made some adjustments at halftime that helped us defensively the rest of the game. Justin Albrecht and Dane Bradshaw both gave us good play at the wings, and John Winchester hit a big shot when we needed it.
"It seemed there was some awfully long stretches when our guys apparently got a little bit winded. What we tried to do on Ronnie Brewer and Jonathon Modica was to get into them on the catch. I liked the way Major Wingate stayed in there and played defense for us.
"Down the stretch, Crump made a big block late, and our guys managed to hang in there."
ARKANSAS HEAD COACH STAN HEATH
"It was a hard-fought game by both teams. Both teams played really well with a lot of energy. Tennessee had some tremendous runs, 10-0 to start the game, and 9-0 late. I was proud our guys didn't fold; they responded each time and took the lead.
"We're playing good basketball, particularly on the road. We had ourselves in a position to win. We played our hearts out, but the shots didn't fall.
"I though Billy Pharis played really well. He was a stabilizing force. He and Matt Jones worked well together. Michael Jones had a good first half. In the second half, he had some tough shots that didn't go down. I thought Matt Jones played solidly, with 7 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 assists. There were times he looked like the only rebounder on the defensive end. He was very effective.
"Olu Famulimi had his best game by far. He was effective inside, and made a couple of big 3-pointers. Famulimi was in there battling at the end, and had a three-footer he couldn't knock down. As he gets older, he'll understand to kick it out, and use the clock. That kind of shot, however, is hard to turn down.
"Tennessee scored a lot off transition, and we needed to play better defense. When you have 16 assists against seven turnovers, it is a solid effort.
"I would hope we would have had a little more patience at the end offensively."
