Tennessee Head Coach Bruce Pearl: "It is not a good day for Tennessee athletics. Coach Phillip Fulmer gave his all for Tennessee; he has tremendous class.
"As far as the basketball game tonight is concerned, it is about what I expected. I am not pleased, but it looked about like what I expected. We have only four guys back who could play tonight. There is cause for concern. We did not take care of the ball, and not all of those turnovers were forced.
"We are still trying to figure out what to do. We did some things that were out of character, and had some people doing some things they could not do.
"Mike Hubert is a walk-on who walked on at Chattanooga a couple years ago, and was cut. Hubert got 10 minutes in tonight and did a pretty good job.
"Because of injuries and academic issues, many of the players were not at their best positions. Scotty Hopson did some really good things, especially when it came to the free-throw line. Hopson is a very unselfish player and a very unselfish man.
"Emmanuel Negedu is a hard-worker who has a good future. When Tyler Smith is on the floor, I want the ball in his hands. J.P. Prince will not be back for Friday's game, but I am hopeful he will play next Saturday."
Indianapolis Head Coach Stan Gouard: "I thought our guys did a really good job, especially early in the game, of competing. My main thing was `one-and-done.' Let those guys take one shot and give them one shot only. I thought we did a good job of bringing that plan to the game. I think this is a good start for us. It challenges us right away and lets us know where we are.
"Coach Pearl and I have a great relationship. He is an unbelievable coach. I would still run through the wall for him. He really put me in tears today when he told me he was proud of me."
