TENNESSEE HEAD COACH Buzz Peterson: "I told our team how good and how disciplined Wofford was. My hat is off to their team, and I wish them well the rest of the year."

I was told Scooter McFadgon had the most points by a newcomer playing his first game since Bernard King (in 1974). Scooter had the cramps late in the game, but he did a nice job hitting his free throws. Scooter is one of those players who wants to take charge during a game, but when we were forcing some shots, I told him we have got to be choosy when going against their zone defense.

"In the first half, I thought we were ready to make a run just before intermission. But we couldn't quite get it going. We need to get better in our halfcourt offense before next Friday's game against Tennessee State.

"The players stayed poised during the stretch run, and I didn't. That's when I got my technical foul because I was upset concerning the shot clock. But if the shot clock was wrong, that's a human error.

"I didn't like the fact Wofford had as many open 3-point shots as they did. We tell the team they have got to support each other, but I think maybe they were supporting a little too much on those occasions. We will work on it, and do a better job of that next week.

"A lot of teams will be zoning against us, and that's something we are going to have to learn to attack better than we did sometimes tonight. I thought Dane Bradshaw gave us some confidence with his play. The crowd was really good. It was a good turnout; they were vocal and they were behind us all the way."

WOFFORD HEAD COACH MIKE YOUNG: "There are plenty of positives coming out of this game. There are things we have to correct, but they are correctable. Our effort was exemplary. We did some great things, and also some uncharacteristic things. We gave up far too many transition baskets in the first half. They also got six points off the offensive glass.

"In the second half, they shot the ball too well, and our team has to take responsibility for that. All in all, the positives outweigh the negatives. I liked our passing and our ability to share the basketball. We got great shots, and did some great things defensively tonight. They can be outstanding defensively.

"We made a couple of poor decisions, and made some mental mistakes, but we will get better. Everyone who stepped on the floor for us tonight did some things to help the team. They played unselfishly and with heart. We had problems guarding C.J. Watson. We won't see anybody in our league with his size and strength this year.

"Scooter McFadgon asked me after the game if we could play three times during the year. I think he's averaging about 48 points against us in two games. I also think he's seen the last of the Terriers."
