KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - C.J. Watson converted a three-point play and Andre Patterson scored inside in the final 1:41 to lift Tennessee to a 73-67 win over Wofford on Monday.

Scooter McFadgon made four free throws in the last seconds to seal the win for the Volunteers (2-2) in their home opener.

Wofford (2-2) led by as many as 10 points in the second half.

Tennessee kept chipping away and tied it twice, the last when Watson scored on a driving layup and made the ensuing foul shot with 1:41 left.

The Terriers could not score again. Patterson got his basket with 57.1 seconds to go as the Vols' defense finally showed up when they needed it.

Freshman Chris Lofton led Tennessee with 19 points and made 5 of 9 shots from beyond the arc.

McFadgon finished with 16 points, Watson had 11 and Patterson added 10 points and 12 rebounds.

Howard Wilkerson gave Tennessee the biggest problem on defense, and he finished with 23 points and 13 rebounds for the Terriers. Wofford's Greg Taylor had 15 points.

Tennessee was playing at home for the first time this season after playing three games in the Maui Invitational.

Wofford led 37-33 at halftime after outscoring Tennessee 19-2 in the final 4:49 of the first half.
