PARADISE ISLAND, Bahamas -- The Vols' front court of Jarnell Stokes and Jeronne Maymon was dominant in posting a 64-49 victory over Xavier at Imperial Arena in the second day of the Battle 4 Atlantis on Friday afternoon.

Stokes posted his second double-double in as many days with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Maymon scored 14 points, making 6-of-8 shots from the floor, for one of his best games since returning from a redshirt season in 2012-13.

Jordan McRae also scored 16 for the Vols, who moved to 4-2 overall. It was the first time in six games McRae did not lead Tennessee in scoring.

Playing a little more than 12 hours after a first-round loss to UTEP, the Vols rebounded with their best win of the season, taking down the 5-2 Musketeers. Xavier pushed No. 23 Iowa to overtime in the first round on Thursday, falling 77-74 after leading most of the game.

Tennessee also gained a measure of revenge against the Muskies after dropping its regular-season opener at Xavier, 67-63, on Nov. 12. The Vols now hold a 12-5 lead in the series with the Musketeers having played three times in the last 11 months.

Front court play keyed the victory as the Vols outscored Xavier in the paint, 41-29. Tennessee outscored Xavier, 26-4 in second-chance points.

Tennessee grabbed the lead up less than four minutes into the game and held it for the remainder of the contest.

The Vols took a 20-point lead on a Stokes layup with 12 minutes left in game, at 51-31.

UT maintained a lead of at least 15 points of the rest of the game as Tennessee's defense buckled up. Xavier shot just 40.3 percent for the game.

Xavier's leading scorer Semaj Christon (16.0 ppg entering the game) was limited to just four points. Christon's 24-game streak of scorn in double-figures came to an end.

The Muskteers' top scorer was Matt Stainbrook, who scored 10.

Tennessee's front court was strong throughout the first half as Stokes (10 points) and Maymon (8 points) combined for 18 points as the Vols built a 39-26 lead at halftime. McRae also scored nine for UT.

The Vols scored 14 second-chance points to just a pair for the Musketeers. Tennessee outrebounded Xavier, 20-16 in the first half. UT committed only three turnovers.

The Vols took control of the game early in the first half and took an 11-point lead on a Stokes tip-in with 6:10 left in the first half, 29-18. Antonio Barton's driving lay-up pushed the lead to 13 at 35-22 with 3:38 left in the game.

Tennessee will play for fifth place in the Battle 4 Atlantic against either USC (4-2) or Wake Forest (5-1) at 3:30 p.m., on Saturday. The game will air on AXS TV and can be heard on the Vol Network.
