Tennessee fans can vote for UT's "Rocky Top Rowdies" in the 2013 Naismith Student Section of the Year contest on Facebook.
By visiting www.facebook.com/ILoveCollegeHoops, Tennessee fans can vote once per day for the UT student section, which serves as the Volunteers' "sixth man" at Thompson-Boling Arena.
The contest looks to identify the loudest, craziest, most intimidating student section in college hoops. The winning school receives a $10,000 donation toward its general scholarship fund - and a year's worth of bragging rights.
The Naismith Student Section of the Year Award, which is presented through a partnership of The Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC), an affiliate of IMG College, and the Atlanta Tipoff Club, administrators of the Naismith Awards, is dedicated to celebrating fans that love college hoops and provide support to their college basketball team with devotion and passion.
"College basketball student sections showcase the emotion, energy, and passion that define what it means for a team to truly have a home court advantage, and we want to celebrate that," said Catherine Gammon, Senior Vice President of Brand Development for CLC. "We encourage all fans to vote to cast their vote and ensure their favorite school gets recognized for the spirit they display in supporting their team."
The passion and electricity that generates from the Rocky Top Rowdies on gameday at Thompson-Boling Arena is a big reason ESPN College GameDay has broadcast from Rocky Top twice in the past five years. Fueled by the Rowdies, the Vols have won four straight home games against the defending national champions and have posted six home victories over top-25 teams in the last three seasons.
Tennessee posted perfect 16-0 home records in both the 2006-07 and 2007-08 seasons.
