Tennessee guard Ramar Smith was named the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week after scoring 34 points last week in two games against Georgia and Florida.

Smith scored a career-high 21 points in helping lead the Vols to an 82-71 win over Georgia. He made 8-of-11 field goals (including 3-of-4 three pointers) against the Bulldogs and scored 13 points with only one turnover against top-ranked Florida.

It is the second time this season Smith has been named SEC Freshman of the Week. He also earned the honor Jan. 8 after he had 13 points, seven assists (one turnover), six rebounds and two blocks in the SEC opener against Mississippi State.

In SEC games, he leads all SEC freshmen in scoring (14.9 ppg), assists (3.5) and steals (1.38) while also ranking fifth in rebounding (3.9 rpg).

For the season, the Mount Clemens, Mich., native is averaging 10.1 ppg, 3.4 rpg and 3.0 apg in 26.4 mpg.
