UT and Auburn have split last six meetings

  • 2008-09 marks Tennessee's 100th season of varsity basketball. A season-long centennial celebration includes the selection of a Tennessee Basketball All-Century Team. Ballots are available in the Thompson-Boling Arena concourse for all home games.
  • In its last outing, Tennessee improved to 3-0 in SEC road games with a 74-72 win at Arkansas Wednesday. Bobby Maze nailed a go-ahead jumper with 5.4 seconds left, and Wayne Chism scored 22.
  • Tennessee under coach Bruce Pearl owns a 20-5 (.800) record in the month of February.
  • Auburn is one of only two SEC schools at which Pearl has yet to record a win (Ole Miss is the other).
  • Expanded over a 40-minute span, the starting lineup used by UT in its last three games (Tabb, Hopson, Prince, Smith and Chism) owns a plus/minus rating of +27.7 ppg.
  • The UT bench has outscored the opposition's bench 549-300 this season. The Vols' bench has scored more than the opponents' in 19 games, and has done so by at least 17 points in 10 different games.

UT's slate last month included games against Kansas (L), Gonzaga (L), Georgia (W), Kentucky (L), South Carolina (W), Vanderbilt (W), Memphis (L), LSU (L) and Florida (W). When Feb. 1 rolled around, those opponents had combined to boast a 139-49 (.739) record.

  • The Vols have yet to suffer a "bad loss" this season, as their seven setbacks have come to teams that combine for a Sagarin ratings average of No. 30 nationally. Tennessee's résumé includes four wins over teams currently listed among Sagarin's top 50.
