UT's All-Century Team to be Recognized at Halftime

  • 2008-09 marks Tennessee's 100th season of varsity basketball. A season-long centennial celebration includes the selection of a Tennessee Basketball All-Century Team, which will be introduced at halftime of Saturday's game. Numerous Volunteer greats will be in attendance.
  • Thompson-Boling Arena has hosted four of the 20-largest crowds in all of college basketball this season and is drawing an average of 20,603 fans per game to rank third in the country.
  • In its last outing, Tennessee recorded 25 assists on 32 made baskets and forced 25 turnovers in a 79-48 rout over Georgia Wednesday in Knoxville. Tyler Smith (15 points) led five Vols in double figures.
  • UT has won 18 of its last 20 Southeastern Conference games at Thompson-Boling Arena.
  • Tennessee is shooting 50.2 percent from the floor as a team over the last four games. Five scholarship Vols are shooting .500 or better during that span. The Vols are 14-1 when they out-shoot the opponent.

Vols forward Wayne Chism came off the bench and scored 16 of his game-high 20 points in the first half ... Tyler Smith made 8-of-9 free throws and finished with 18 points, seven rebounds and five assists ... J.P. Prince was 6-of-8 from the field for 16 points, five rebounds and four assists ... "Wheezy" Nearing Statistical Milestones

With 967 career points and 583 career rebounds, junior Wayne Chism is close to becoming the 16th player in school history to log 1,000 points and 600 boards ... He is on track to become the 41st member of UT's 1,000-point club ... Chism also is on pace to attempt a season-high 136 free throws during the regular-season ... His previous season-high for freethrow attempts was 104 during his freshman campaign ... He's already tied that number this year.

Prince Setting Career Marks

Junior wing J.P. Prince has bean playing some of the best basketball of his career as of late ... Injury-plagued early on this season, Prince has been the picture of productiviy in UT's last three games:

Florida, Jan. 31 - Career-high 34 minutes played, and a UT career-high nine assists.
at Auburn, Feb. 7 - Season-high 18 points, and 8-of-9 at the free-throw-line (both career-highs).
Georgia, Feb. 11 - Career-high nine rebounds, and tied his UT career-high with three steals.

Defensive Turnaround

After allowing an average of 76.3 ppg through Jan. 17, UT has allowed an average of 65.3 ppg in its last seven contests ... On Jan. 24, UT held Memphis to its lowest scoring output of the season (54) ...
