ATLANTA - Tennessee head coach Cuonzo Martin led the East All-Stars to an 87-81 victory Friday night at the Reese's Division I College All-Star Game in Atlanta.
Ohio guard D.J. Cooper was named the Reese's Perfect Player of the Game for the East team after finishing with 11 points and 9 assists. He was one of six men on the East team to finish in double-figures in the scoring column.
Iowa State's Will Clyburn was named the West's Reese's Perfect Player of the Game, finishing with a game-high 17 points to go along with eight rebounds.
The East led 43-33 at half time as BYU's Brandon Davies (East) led the way in the first half with eight points and six rebounds.
Clyburn had seven first half points to lead the West while Villanova's Mouphtaou Yarou had a team-high six rebounds in the opening half.
The East took its largest lead of the game 60-45 with 13:45 left. The West then mounted a comeback by going on a 17-4 run which cut the East's lead to 64-62 with 7:42 left in the game.
The East led 68-66 with 5:04 left and put the game away with a 9-0 run marked by a pair of baskets by Long Beach State's James Ennis.
Martin coached the East squad, while Iowa State's head coach Fred Hoiberg managed the West squad.
This was not the first time these two head coaches have met.
Back in 1995, Martin, a senior at Purdue, played in the NABC College All-Star Game with Iowa State senior Hoiberg. In addition, Martin participated in the 1995 Final Four College 3-point Shootout, finishing runner-up to Michigan State's Shawn Respert.
