Vols Add Baulkman to Hoops Signing Class
Devon Baulkman

Devon Baulkman

May 13, 2014

Devon Baulkman (pronounced: DEV-in BAWK-mihn) has signed official paperwork to attend the University of Tennessee and join the Volunteers basketball program, head coach Donnie Tyndall announced Tuesday.

A 6-5, 200-pound guard from Bainbridge, Ga., Baulkman is the fourth member of Tennessee's 2014 signing class, joining fellow perimeter players Jabari McGhee, Detrick Mostella and Kevin Punter.

Baulkman has spent the past two years at Gulf Coast State College in Panama City. He plans to enroll at UT this summer and will be a junior next season with two years of eligibility remaining.

He had previously signed to play for Tyndall at Southern Miss but was granted a release after the coaching transition that brought Tyndall to Tennessee.

"Devon is another versatile, long, athletic guy that fits our system really well," Tyndall said. "He can play all three perimeter positions, and that versatility will allow him to contribute immediately to our team."

As a sophomore last season, Baulkman led GCSC to a 20-9 record while averaging 15.5 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.8 steals per game and earning All-Panhandle Conference honors for the second straight year.

On Feb. 1, 2014, Baulkman set the GCSC single-game scoring record by exploding for 48 points in an 87-85 win over Northwest Florida State.

He was coached at GCSC by Jay Powell.

As a prep standout at Bainbridge High School, Baulkman was coached by Rickey McCullough and was a two-time Region 1AAAA Player of the Year and also was twice named an Albany Herald Super 6 selection.

As a senior in 2010-11, Baulkman was named first-team All-State by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He averaged 20.8 points and 7.8 rebounds (both team-highs) while leading Bainbridge to a 27-3 record, the Region 1AAAA Championship and a berth in the second round of the Class AAAA state tournament.
