The Tennessee men's and women's basketball teams - along with representatives from the Vols football program - traded their athletic gear for hard hats and safety goggles Saturday morning.
The Big Orange contingent was eager to participate in the Knoxville Habitat for Humanity 2013 "blitz build," in the Silver Leaf subdivision in East Knoxville.
The basketball teams spent the morning building at one home site, while the football team labored on the structure in the adjacent lot.
Tawanna Robinson and her son will live in the home that the basketball programs worked on Saturday.
When work commenced at 7:30 a.m., the only thing occupying the lot was the concrete slab that would serve as the home's foundation.
The Vols and Lady Vols quickly set to work constructing the exterior walls and roof trusses.
This is the third consecutive summer that the Tennessee basketball team has participated in the local Habitat for Humanity blitz build day.
