Monday marked another long day of travel for the Tennessee basketball team, as the Volunteers departed The Republic of San Marino in the morning and re-entered Italy, driving north to Como.
It was nearly 5 p.m. when the Big Orange arrived at the Palace Hotel, situated along the picturesque bank of Lake Como, very near the Swiss border.
After checking in, one of UT's tour guides led a short walk to a nearby silk outlet, where men scoured the racks looking for orange ties and pocket squares, and the women bought up most of the store's orange-colored scarves and shawls.
Como is known for its high-quality silk goods, just as Florence -- where the Vols spent two days last week -- is known for its leather products.
At 7:30 p.m., the team, staff, their families and the group of fans who made the trip gathered in one of the hotel ballrooms for a spectacular dinner that gave everyone a chance to mingle and talk about the high points of the trip thus far. After dinner, the children of the basketball staff sang Rocky Top while wheeling in a giant cake with icing that read, "Welcome University of Tennessee: Italy 2012."
Everyone then had the evening to themselves.
The Vols will take a boat tour of Lake Como Tuesday morning. The cruise includes a stop for lunch in Bellagio.
Tuesday evening, Tennessee looks to complete its four-game exhibition tour with a perfect 4-0 record when it faces Amici del Campetto at 8 p.m. (2 p.m. ET).

PS: The Lithuanian pro team, Atletas, that defeated Georgia 94-90 last week before suffering an 82-68 loss at the hands of the Vols in Florence, posted a 92-89 victory over Purdue on Sunday.
