WATSON, LOFTON NAMED PRESEASON ALL-SEC
Chris Lofton

Chris Lofton

Oct. 21, 2005

Tennessee's backcourt of C.J. Watson and Chris Lofton were named to the second annual men's basketball preseason All-SEC first and second teams as announced by the Southeastern Conference office Friday. Watson was named to the first team, while Lofton made second team.

Watson, a senior from Las Vegas, Nev., has started all but one game in his career and is tied for fifth all-time at Tennessee with 460 assists. He needs 34 points to become the 38th player in school history to score 1,000 points. Last season, he tied for the SEC lead with 5.0 assists per game which ranked 44th nationally.

Lofton, a sophomore from Maysville, Ky., set a UT and SEC freshman record with 93 3-pointers last season while averaging 13.2 points per game. He was a third team selection on the 2004-05 Rivals.com Freshman All-America Team and named to the SEC All-Freshman team.

Alabama and Arkansas led all schools with three selections each. The preseason All-SEC first and second teams consist of a minimum of eight players on each squad, voted on by the SEC Head Men's Basketball Coaches. No ties were broken and no predicted order of finish was made.
