UT ANNOUNCES CHANGES TO NEYLAND STADIUM SMOKING POLICY FOR 2006

The University of Tennessee Athletics Department announced changes Monday to the smoking policy in Neyland Stadium.

Earlier this year, the state legislature passed a law prohibiting smoking in state buildings. The law, which went into effect in July, pertains to university facilities as well. In concert with the new legislation, smoking no longer will be allowed in the stadium except in the ramp areas and the Gate 21 plaza.

Smoking already was banned in the seating areas of the stadium. This change will prohibit smoking in the interior concourses of the stadium.

Prohibited Items:
In the interest of security and fan safety, all articles are subject to search. No backpacks or large bags of any kind will be permitted inside Neyland Stadium.

Prohibited Items:

  • Alcoholic Beverages
  • Cans, Bottles, Coolers
  • Radios without Headsets
  • Open Umbrellas
  • Video Cameras
  • Stadium seats with Arms
  • Large bags or parcels, including Backpacks and larger purses
  • Weapons
  • Artificial Noisemakers
Please do not attempt to bring these or similar articles in the stadium. Items will not be stored at the gate and/or stadium for pickup after the game.

The following articles will be allowed into Neyland Stadium on game day:

  • Cameras
  • Cell Phones
  • Binoculars

Smoking Policy
Smoking is prohibited in all seated areas, portals and concourses of Neyland Stadium. There are designated smoking areas on the ramps and the Gate 21 plaza.

Lost articles may be turned in at the Gate 21 elevators. Such items will then be turned over to the University of Tennessee Security Office, 1101 Cumberland Avenue, where they may be called for Monday following each game at 865-974-3114.

Stadium Security
There are police officers, ushers, and event security personnel stationed throughout the stadium during football games. If you have any problems during the game, please locate the nearest police officer, usher, or security personnel for assistance.

First Aid (Defibrillators/AEDs)
In case of a medical emergency during a game, the University of Tennessee and the American Red Cross have established four first-aid stations in Neyland Stadium located on the lower level in the concourse outside of sections O/P and X1, and in the upper level in the concourse outside of sections II and XX4. The stations are staffed with medical doctors, nurses and other qualified personnel. Trained first-aid teams are located throughout the stadium, ready to administer immediate care. If you need medical assistance, notify the team nearest you. If you are unable to locate a team, find a law enforcement officer or usher and he or she will direct you. This is a service provided by the University of Tennessee and the American Red Cross.

Public courtesy phones are located outside the First Aid Command Stations and at the Elevators at Gate 21.
