Eddie Brown earned All-America status in 1973 thanks to his awareness as a defensive back and his illusive punt return ability. He led the Vols in both categories his senior year.

Brown collected five picks his 1973 senior campaign at Tennessee for 105 return yards to lead the team.

The UT captain led the Vols' 28-27 comback win against Kansas at Memphis Memorial Stadium. Brown intercepted a pass and returned it 74 yards before being brought down, had his teeth knocked out while blocking a field goal, had consistently long punt returns and played a vital role in stopping a two-point conversion to preserve the Tennessee victory.
