He was just a sophomore in 1998, but he played an integral role in the Vols' run to the BCS National Championship. He finished second on the team with 79 tackles and led team with 11 tackles for loss from his left-side linebacker position, where he started all 13 games.
Westmoreland would go on to have a storied career at Tennessee. He was named a captain in 2000 and went on to lead that squad in tackles with 83. He also claimed All-SEC honors from the league's coaches. His career stats totaled 253 tackles and 34 tackles for loss.
A third-round pick of the Jacksonville Jaguars, Westmoreland played three seasons with the franchise before signing with the Cleveland Browns in 2004. He played three seasons with the Browns.
