Postgame Quotes: Arkansas 49, Tennessee 7

Nov. 12, 2011

Recap |  Final Stats |  Notes |  Photo Gallery

Tennessee Head Coach Derek Dooley (opening statement):
"Give Arkansas a lot of credit. They put it to us. Not much you can say after a game like that. Very disappointing in how it ended, but we missed a lot of opportunities. There were a ton of missed tackles in space, on the punt return we had about five guys right there and we've got to finish him off. And then we had some fourth-and-twos. You've got to make a play. We don't make a play, throw an interception right before the half, and that hurt. When you miss those kinds of opportunities against a team like this, you're going to pay, and that's what happened."

Tennessee Head Coach Derek Dooley (on whether the game caught him by surprise):
"No, because these guys are good. That's what they do, and they've been doing it with a lot of teams."

Tennessee Defensive Lineman Maurice Couch (on the game):
"We had a lot of mistakes that they capitalized on. We had a lot of missed tackles, and they put up their points on our mistakes."

Tennessee Offensive Lineman Ja'Wuan James (on the interception before the half):
"We wanted some points right there, but you can't really put it all on (the quarterback). If we would have done a better job on a run play before and executed that, we probably could have had some more yards."

Arkansas Head Coach Bobby Petrino (on the game):
"We had a lot of big plays. I'm glad we were able to come out in the second half and score like we did. We've certainly played well in our last three games at home. I like it when we crank up our run game and what else can you say about our special teams, they've been great all season, scoring five touchdowns."

Arkansas Head Coach Bobby Petrino (on Jarius Wright):
"Jarius (Wright) has been a great receiver all year. He can run after the catch, which he has improved on all year. We rely on him as one of our biggest playmakers."

Arkansas Head Coach Bobby Petrino (on the team's preparation this week):
"I thought the team did good in preparation all week long. It was about the seniors, winning their last game in Fayetteville. We were really concerned about our effort and performance and the scoreboard would take care of itself."

Arkansas Head Coach Bobby Petrino (on the defense):
"I feel like we're playing real well. Our defense is playing well and playing fast."

Arkansas Safety Tramain Thomas (on the Mississippi State game):
"It's going to be physical. They're a physical team just like us. I expect it to be a hard-hitting game just like it was last year."

Arkansas Safety Tramain Thomas (on his interception):
"We were in bracket coverage on Da'Rick Rogers and he ran an out route so that freed me up and I was able to key on the quarterback. I figured out where he was going to throw the ball and was able to make the interception."

Arkansas Wide Receiver Jarius Wright (on his spectacular catch):
"I was running up the sideline, Tyler (Wilson) threw the ball out there and there was some wind tonight so I think it got caught in the air. I had to stop and go back to it, I actually caught it the first time, so I flipped it in the air, tried to catch it with one hand, it hit my facemask, then I got two hands out to catch it."

Arkansas Wide Receiver Jarius Wright (on holding the Arkansas record for career receptions):
"It's always good to break a record, especially in your home state and a place that you've played at for so long. It's great to know I broke a record and regardless if Joe (Adams) passes me or not, I'll be in the record books."
