Mobile, Ala. --- For the 22nd straight year, the University of Tennessee will be represented in the Under Armour Senior Bowl. Running back Arian Foster, defensive end Robert Ayers and offensive guard Anthony Parker have all accepted invitations to the 60th game on January 24, bowl officials announced Friday. Kickoff for the Under Armour Senior Bowl is slated for 7 p.m. (ET) in Mobile's Ladd-Peebles Stadium and the game will be televised by the NFL Network.
Foster, the team's leading rusher in 2008, finished the season with 570 yards on 131 carries. A second team All-SEC pick as a junior, Foster rushed for 2,964 yards in his career while accounting for 25 touchdowns (23 rushing, 2 receiving). He is second on the school's all-time rushing list and third on the all-purpose yardage list with 3,863 total yards.
Ayers heads to Mobile after leading the Vols in sacks (3) and tackles for a loss (15.5) in 2008. The Clio, South Carolina native totaled 49 tackles on the season and finished his career with 113 total tackles, 31.5 tackles for a loss and 9 sacks. He was a first team All-SEC selection by the league's coaches and second team All-SEC pick by the Associated Press this season.
Parker wrapped up his career at Tennessee as one of the team's most durable linemen. A second team AP and Coaches' All-SEC selection the past two years, Parker started 39 of his 44 career games, including his last 38 straight. He was part of an offensive line that led the country in sacks allowed (4) his junior season.
With the addition of Foster, Ayers and Parker, the University of Tennessee has now sent 112 players to the Under Armour Senior Bowl. Last year quarterback Erik Ainge and tight end Brad Cottam represented the Vols in the senior showcase event.
