Tennessee's 2009 football class has added its third post-National Signing Day signature with the announcement that Wichita, Kansas tailback Bryce Brown inked with the Vols on Monday. Brown comes to Knoxville rated the No. 1 overall prospect in the nation by Rivals.com, which makes him the highest-rated player ever to sign with Tennessee.
"We believe the addition of Bryce Brown improves an already great class," Tennessee head coach Lane Kiffin said. "To be able to sign the No. 1 player in the country before we even play our first game speaks volumes for our great university and this coaching staff."
Brown is the second five-star recruit to join the Vols since National Signing Day. He rushed for more than 3,500 yards and 50 touchdowns in his final two seasons at Wichita East High School, earning All-State and Parade All-America honors as a senior.
Kiffin's inaugural class now has 22 members and is ranked in the top 10 nationally by Rivals.com and Scout.com.
The Vols resume spring practice March 24.
