Vols Jersey Countdown #65

June 27, 2013

Player Spotlight
Charles Rosenfelder
Guard (1966-68)

Charles Rosenfelder was a regular with the Vols' offensive front and started all three years on the varsity squad.

As a freshman in 1965, Rosenfelder made the All-SEC freshman team and carried his successes as a blocker to the varsity level. He earned a consensus All-America selection his senior year of 1968 by becoming the backbone of an offensive line that had lost four starters from the previous season.

His line leadership resulted in tailback Richard Pickens rushing for 736 yards in 1968, the most for a Tennessee back since Hank Lauricella in 1951.

Why I Wore the Number
Phillip Fulmer
Guard (1969-71)
"My number 65 was special to me because Charlie Rosenfelder wore it before me. He was an All-American and he asked me to wear it. I was honored to do that. I became the best scramble blocker and leg whipper that there was just like Charlie Rosenfelder was."
