June 30, 2013

Player Spotlight
Clyde 'Ig' Fuson
Fullback (1942)
No. 62 was retired in honor of Clyde 'Ig' Fuson (May 11, 1923 -- Dec. 4, 1944), a native of Middlesboro, Ky., and fullback on the 1942 team. Ig passed away in World War II defending his country. Fuson shared playing time with Bill Nowling (who also lost his life in World War II). Ig had a younger brother, Herschel 'Ug' Fuson, who was a freshman on the 1942 team and transferred to West Point where he graduated.

Why I Wore the Number
Jack Kile
Guard (1959-60)
"My number 62 was very special to me because I had no earthly idea that I would ever have the privilege to put on an orange jersey."
