Why I Wore the Number
Kevin Gregory
Long Snapper (1998-99)
"I was a walk on long snapper and was honored to wear ANY number the equipment managers assigned me. When they tossed me the #51 with my name on the back, words can't describe how quickly that number went from being meaningless, to meaning everything to me. I honored that number and those who had worn it before me by working hard, and earned a full scholarship my final two years. I wore that jersey number through 2 SEC championships and proudly wore it as I snapped during the national championship game in 1998. That number has gone on to mean so much to my family, as my son continues to sport his own #51 jersey in the stands today."
