Charlotte, N.C. - Raycom Sports' Emmy Award-winning summer television series, "Havoline Football Saturdays in the South," begins its sixth season this weekend. The series, with six one-hour episodes, is hosted by Tim Brando and syndicated in 60 markets throughout the greater southeast and Atlantic coast.
This weekend's show travels to Tennessee to check in with one of the most popular mascots in college football, Smokey the bluetick coonhound. Learn a little about the 56 year history and meet the family that owns and cares for him.
Then see what makes Georgia Tech's homecoming unique and get on board the Ramblin' Wreck for the ride of a lifetime. Fans will then be introduced to Wake Forest's Demon Deacon, who has a special way of revving up Deac fans. And one of the greatest drivers in stock car history gives his thoughts on football. Get ready for the King, Richard Petty, as he talks about North Carolina Tar Heel players and coaches experiencing a new type of speed at Lowe's Motor Speedway for the 2008 Meineke Car Care Bowl.
This weekend's show will air on Saturday, July 18 on WVLT in Knoxville at 1:00 p.m., on WDSI in Chattanooga at 2:30 p.m., and on WUPX in Nashville at 5:00 p.m.
