Aug. 11, 2009

Tennessee fans eager for a peek inside the Volunteers football program under first-year head coach Lane Kiffin can now turn to one source for all there is to know about the Big Orange as "Tennessee Insider," UT's official 2009 gridiron yearbook, hits newsstands across the state this week.

Published jointly by the University of Tennessee and IMG College/Vol Network, the 176-page volume is packed with player bios --including Q&As with Tennessee's top returners--opponent previews and numerous insightful and entertaining features highlighting the 2009 Volunteers.

"As we get closer to football time in Tennessee, the new yearbook is a great must-have resource for fans to use and enjoy throughout the season." Vol Network President Steve Early said. "We spent more than a year planning this new official Tennessee football publication, and it will have the widest distribution and most availability of any publication we have produced for Big Orange fans."

Among the features in "Tennessee Insider" are in-depth looks at Kiffin's assembly of UT's all-star coaching staff and an analysis of the staff's first recruiting class, a stirring piece highlighting consensus All-America strong safety and Heisman Trophy candidate Eric Berry and a retrospective look back at the career of "The Voice," John Ward, 10 years after his final call.

One of the visual highlights is four full pages of eye-popping renderings and images of current and future renovations at Neyland Stadium.

Vols fans also will enjoy UT athletic historian Haywood Harris' behind-the-scenes tour highlighting some of the unsung heroes associated with UT's program. The Vol Network's broadcast tandem of Bob Kesling and Tim Priest provide their perspective on the 2009 season, and ESPN.com's Chris Low sizes up the always-formidable Southeastern Conference.

"With a writer lineup including Haywood Harris, Chris Low, Drew Edwards, John Brice, Tom Mattingly and several others lending their talents to this project, we feel we've put together a very entertaining and informative magazine for the 2009 season," Early said. "It's an impressive, descriptive and visual showcase of Tennessee's football program and will be a terrific memento as we begin the Lane Kiffin era."

"Tennessee Insider," which retails for $7.95, bears the official seal of the Vol Network on the cover, which features Kiffin and Berry in the entryway to the Peyton Manning Locker Complex at Neyland Stadium. The yearbook will be available at all 24-hour Walgreen's locations throughout the state of Tennessee and through various other retail outlets. The yearbook will also be available at Neyland Stadium during fall gamedays and can be purchased online through volnetwork.tv.

As a complement to "Tennessee Insider", UTAD and IMG College/Vol Network will distribute approximately 35,000 complimentary copies of a new publication called "Tennessee Playbook" at each home game this fall. A revamped, souvenir-sized gameday resource, each edition of "Tennessee Playbook" will include up-to-date information including rosters, statistics, gameday notes, university and player-specific features and Harris' popular "Inside Big Orange Country" column.
