A four-year letterwinnner and three-year starter for Tennessee, Rico McCoy left Rocky Top ranked eighth on the school's tackles list after amassing 350 over the course of his 51-game career.
The first UT letterman from the District of Columbia since Lon Herzbrun in 1955-57, McCoy earned All-SEC honors in both his junior and senior campaigns. In 2008, McCoy finished second on the team and ninth in the SEC with 87 tackles, leading the team in each of the last five games of the year.
As a senior in 2009, McCoy paced all UT players with 119 tackles, including 72 unassisted, in addition to recording five forced fumbles which tied for the second-most in school history.
For his career, McCoy posted 12 contests in which he reached double-figures in tackles, topped by a 15-tackle performance against Vanderbilt in his final home game as a Vol. He would end his career having started the final 40 games in which he appeared.
McCoy has spent two seasons as a backup linebacker with the Winnipeg Bluebombers in the Canadian Football League.
